Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 – Bare Act with Section Notes By Taxmann’s Editorial Board

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 [Bare Act with Section Notes] by Taxmann is a comprehensively enhanced statutory publication presenting the complete and authoritative text of India’s new substantive criminal law. This 2026 Edition goes far beyond a conventional Bare Act, whether plain-text editions or minimally annotated versions, by integrating extensive comparative tools, structured tables, editorial aids, and transition-focused guidance, thereby functioning as a full-fledged statutory reference and transition manual for the post-IPC criminal law regime. In addition to reproducing the verbatim statutory text of the BNS, the publication is enriched with expertly drafted Section Notes that explain the intent, scope, interpretation, and practical application of each provision. Unlike ordinary Bare Act editions that merely reproduce the law, this Edition is editorially designed to assist users in understanding how the new law operates, how it differs from the IPC framework, and how it is to be applied in practice. A defining strength of this Edition lies in its multi-layered comparative framework, which enables readers to clearly trace continuity, substitution, repeal, and innovation between the BNS and the IPC. Through carefully structured correspondence tables, comparative studies, and transition aids, the book allows instant cross-referencing between old and new provisions, an essential requirement for readers navigating legacy IPC references. Designed as a professional-grade transition tool, this publication equips readers with a structured, navigable, and reliable understanding of India’s re-codified criminal law.
